Hiya! I’m Katie, your friendly local freelance music journalist.
I live and work in Edinburgh, but thanks to the internet I contribute to lots of ace online and print magazines. I write interviews, features and music reviews for The Skinny, Scotland’s premier culture publication, and have had articles published by Crack, The Scotsman, DIY, Sneaky Pete’s, The 405 and Berlin Beat.
I was a nominator for the Scottish Album of the Year Award in both 2016 and 2017, and last year I was a guest on Vic Galloway’s Monday night show at BBC Radio Scotland. Edinburgh arts fest Hidden Door invited me to write a diary for them, documenting nine nights of music and actual magicians, and you can read that here.
I probably definitely want to write for you. Need words on a happy-go-lucky grunge band, a flamboyant techno DJ or your favourite, smooth-tongued r’n’b star? I’m yer gal.
During working hours I’m a PhD candidate in European Theatre at Edinburgh University. My research uses Edinburgh and Berlin as case-studies to explore how digital culture is changing ideas and practices of liveness and participation in contemporary theatre. If you’re curious, I’m documenting my progress on Medium. Please note that I will happily write about these things for you, too.
